Ferrari America had a big 60th anniversary special event on Rodeo Dr yesterday

a display of 60 significant Ferraris on Rodeo Drive, including the 166 MM Touring Barchetta, s/n 0008 M, which was 1st overall at the 1949 Mille Miglia and it followed that up on June 1949 with a glorious 1st overall at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, driven by Luigi Chinetti and Lord Selsdon. However, this was the race where Chinetti drove for a heroic 23 hours while taking the win. The car’s number that day was 22 and that’s the livery it wears today. In 1997 it was bought by Robert M. Lee to add to his already huge collection, and it remains with him today.

This gathering of great Ferraris was organized by collector Bruce Meyer, with the help of Ferrari expert and historian David Seibert, Greg Adams, Director, Brand Experience Marketing at Ferrari North America.

Italy's oldest concours has definitively expert judges

With historical cars competing for prizes divided into four different categories based on their production years, the ASI assembled a most impressive jury of internationally renowned design masters to judge the small contingent competing. Amongst them, Messrs. Lorenzo Ramaciotti, general manager of Fiat design, Aldo Brovarone, former Head of Pininfarina, Fabio Filippini, Head of Pininfarina style, Roberto Giolito, Fiat Style Director, Ercole Spada, former head of Zagato, and designer Tom Tjaarda.

Can you believe a Ferrari never won Best Of Show at Pebble Beach before? True

Until 2014, a post war car hadn't even won best of show in the past 55 years.

This is the 1954 Ferrari 375 MM Scaglietti Coupe of Jon Shirley, who won best of show in 2008, and he was once president of Microsoft, and remained on the board of directors until 2008. This Ferrari was designed by Sergio Scaglietti for Roberto Rossellini who comissioned it for his wife, Ingrid Bergman. It’s one of only five roadgoing versions of this racer, and was the first passenger Ferrari to be bodied by Scgalietti.
